You Can Get Around Roaming Charges. . . But Will You?

I just finished analyzing a phone bill that would eat up two and a half months of my salary . . . I’m so glad it wasn’t mine. When I travelled through Europe back in the day phone calls were a cumbersome jumble of cards and booths and foreign language operators, but you knew what you paid. Now, when you travel with your smartphone you could come home to a bill that cost as much as your trip. I'm not exaggerating. Just hop on your iPhone GPS in London for 10 minutes and you'll get a taste of how cruel your carrier can be. So the question is can you type “A” personalities suck it up, turn off your data and plan your life around a WiFi hotspots? If you can stomach turning off your data here are some helpful links.
